The High Sierra Lacrosse league is seeking four candidates to join the Board of Directors. 

Two of the five current board members, Steve Morrow and Glenn Meyer, will be stepping down on October 1, 2015, and in addition to filling those vacancies, the Board will add two additional members.  Remaining on the board for another term will be Jackie Allen, Bud Haley, and Eric Peacock.

We invite all HSLL constituents to nominate qualified individuals for consideration.  General requirements/expectations for Board Membership are:

Requirements

  • Have no current or past legal issues that allow the membership to call into question that director’s integrity
  • Be endorsed either by a member program or by a majority vote of the HSLL Board of Directors
  • If affiliated with a HSLL program, program must be in good standing financially and in compliance with league rules

Expectations

  • Serve for a period of two years
  • Serve in one of the elected statutory positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer or Secretary or as the chair of an advisory board committee possibly including but not limited to: Boys/Girls HS Commissioner; Boys/Girls Youth Commissioner; Sportsmanship/Safety; Coaching Education; Events/Volunteers; Communications/Operations
  • Prepare for and participate in all regular and special board meetings, ideally in person—a minimum of four per year
  • Participate in HSLL-sponsored activities such as Jamborees, end-of-season playoffs, fundraisers, etc.

Estimated time commitment (Note that this is a WORKING Board)

  • President - 20-50 hours/month; average 25 hours/month
  • Treasurer - 10-20 hours/month; average 15 hours/month
  • Secretary – 10-20 hours/month; average 10/month
  • Other board positions - 10-20 hours/month

Duties of the President, Secretary and Treasure are defined beginning on page seven of the High Sierra Lacrosse League Bylaws. New Board members, should they accept their appointments,  will officially join the board on October 1, 2015.

The election will occur at an open meeting, to be held August 18, 2015, 5:30 pm at Scheel's in the upstairs meeting rooms.  Each HSLL member program or sponsored program will receive one vote per boys program and one vote per girls program.  Therefore, at the Aug. 18 elections, votes will be distributed as follows:
