Our Mission: To promote and develop the game of lacrosse as an integral part of the educational process and as a means of making equally available to girls and boys the beneficial attributes of the game. To honor players, coaches and officials whose skill and conduct on the field and in their business and professional lives inspire in the youth of the Tahoe, Truckee and Northern Nevada areas a high regard for the discipline of the game of lacrosse

Our Purpose: Develop the sport of Lacrosse as a youth asset for male and female student athletes in the Tahoe, Truckee and Northern Nevada areas. This process should create an environment designed to unite families in an activity based around our sport and the opportunities it offers to High School and College bound student athletes. The association with Lacrosse’s governing body US Lacrosse will help ensure direction and compliance, while fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and positive coaching alliance practices designed to inspire participation while protecting the integrity of the game. Participation in the sport of lacrosse provides a powerful vehicle for a participant’s personal growth and development, teaching the value of respect, fairness, teamwork, communication, responsibility, truthfulness, non-discrimination, honesty and integrity. We believe these attributes help develop an additional skill set for the college bound student athlete.

History
The need to start lacrosse in the Northern Nevada area was obvious as the growth of the sport exploded across the country. More and more people migrated to the Reno/Tahoe area bringing college experience and a passionate love of the game.
For the past 19 years the Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament has attracted players from all over the country. The University of Nevada fields a mens and womans team. Local high school clubs have formed. Youth programs have sprouted up on the California and Nevada sides of the Lake. Girls are playing the sport as the first additional sports option in decades.
Some astounding facts:
  • The west coast supports 56 Men’s college programs & 64 Woman’s college programs .
  • 12.2 % of high school players participate in college, the nations’ highest percent for all sports.*
  • 173 Boys & 103 Girls High School Teams and 10,000 youth players in California.*
  •

Lacrosse provides the exercise and the clean outdoor activities we all want for our youth. It encourages competition, sportsmanship and teamwork. In short, lacrosse provides an additional asset to the college bound student athlete,an instant group of friends the first day on campus and a reason to continue down the path to graduation.
