Truckee Lacrosse Program
The Truckee Lacrosse Program supports High School Boys and Girls, as well as, Youth Boys and Girls (3rd through 8th grade).
Paul Cowie started the program in 2001 as an activity for local youth. In 2002 the club and the Truckee Donner Recreation and Parks Department (TDRPD) angelo@TDRPD.com joined forces to boost the strength and direction of the program. Dan O’Gorman with the Rec. Department wanted to add a new sport to the town’s recreational offerings. Lacrosse was picked because it is the fastest growing team sport in the state and it has a great depth of volunteer potential for coaches locally. The program supported 12 players that first year, two of which were girls. Today the program supports 100 boys and girls and is partially funded by the fees charged from the Recreation Department and the efforts of the Truckee Lacrosse Programs founders .
