Reno Fields Project
The Truckee River Flood Management Authority (TRFMA) is currently evaluating plans for the Rock-McCarran project, a large open space initiative along the Truckee River in Reno, and they will be reviewing public input now through Aug 15. One proposal would include space for recreational fields, one would not.
LET THEM KNOW YOU SUPPORT THE SPORTS COMPLEX CONCEPT!
- The Sports Complex Concept would include 11 flat fields to support youth recreation, plus nature trails and park areas.
- The Nature Park Concept would prioritize only natural, undeveloped space, and include no playing fields:
‼️NOW is the time to advocate for the Sports Complex Concept to provide much-needed multi-use recreational space for our youth. Spaces where our kids can gather, grow, and play the games they love are desperately needed in our region and will benefit the whole community‼️
✅HOW YOU CAN HELP
Please take a moment to contact TRFMA and voice your support for including flat, multi-use fields for youth recreation in the Rock/McCarran project. It only takes a minute, and your voice can make a difference. Here’s how to be heard:
👉 Submit public comment to the TRFMA Working Group as often as you can through Aug 15 by emailing trfma@washoecounty.gov.
We have put together a template letter at this link that you can copy and paste. We encourage you to personalize your message, and share your family’s connection to youth sports. Let them know why accessible, well-designed field space matters to YOU and YOUR community!
👉 Ask friends and family to join in, too! Links to the letter template and can be found at highsierralax.org/fields
